Great interest in the new Cybersecurity programme
There is great interest and high application pressure for the one-year master's programme Cybersecurity at the School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU), which starts this fall.
“It will put you in a really positive position on the labor market,” says Patrik Cannmo, Associate Dean of Education at JTH.
The Cybersecurity programme is structured to provide understanding and expertise in the methods, tools and strategies needed to handle the complex problems affecting our digital environment. The education opens up opportunities in several job sectors such as the manufacturing industry, banking, healthcare and retail.
“The cyber security program is just right in time and suitable as a good extension for people with a bachelor exam in the IT field, says Patrik Cannmo.
Collaboration with cyber security professionals
In order to broaden the students' skills, JTH has started a collaboration with the world's leading non-profit membership association for cyber security professionals, ISC2. Thereby, students can take cybersecurity certifications that are in demand by many employers in the industry, such as "Certified Information Systems Security Professional" (CISSP).
“We are very happy about this partnership. This means our students can earn coveted cybersecurity certifications and increase their employability. Organizations around the world are looking for personnel who can protect them from cyberattacks and our students learn this,” says Erik Bergström, programme manager.
Hands-on expercises
The programme is practice-based and students will engage in hands-on exercises, simulations and real-world projects that reflect the challenges faced by cyber security professionals. ISC2's mission is to strengthen the influence, diversity and vitality of the cybersecurity field to accelerate increased cybersecurity worldwide. They see positively that JTH meets employers' competence needs in cyber security with their new programme.
"Happy to support the students"
“We are happy about our collaboration with JTH and that we can support the students to get certifications, which will make it easier for them to get jobs in the cyber security industry. The students will also have access to our resources, all so that they can stay ahead of the attackers,” says Alex Mortimer, ISC2 Global Academic Partnerships Lead.
