JU recruits new President
For family reasons, Agneta Marell, President of Jönköping University, is leaving her position before the end of her appointment. She plans to remain in the post until a new successor is in place.
Agneta Marell took over as President in October 2017 and her current appointment is valid until October 2026. Due to a family illness, she has decided to end her employment before that date. She has asked the Chairman of the Foundation Governing Board, Anders Danielsson, to initiate the recruitment process for a successor.
“After six great years at JU, I have asked the Chairman to initiate the process of recruiting a new President for JU. After careful consideration, I have decided to end my assignment as President early. My current family situation means that I need to be present in Umeå much more than I can do today,” says Agneta Marell.
“It is sad that Agneta chooses to end her appointment early. The Board is very pleased with the work she has done for JU, but considering her family situation, we fully understand that she takes this decision,” says Anders Danielsson, Chairman of Jönköping University Foundation Governing Board.
Stays until a successor is in place
Agneta Marell plans to remain in the position until a successor is in place. This process may take up to one year.
“By signalling now, we can make an orderly recruitment that will be good for JU. I will remain during the recruitment process and do everything I can to facilitate the handover to the new President,” concludes Agneta Marell.
