Continued EQUIS accreditation for Jönköping International Business School
Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) at Jönköping University has received renewed accreditation from the international accrediting body EFMD. The school’s EQUIS accreditation is extended for five years, a true mark of dedicated work with quality in both education and research.
During 2017, extensive work has been ongoing at JIBS, culminating in a visit from EFMD in November. Now, JIBS has gained renewed confidence for another five years, which is the maximum that EFMD awards a business school.
“We are very happy and proud that EFMD are continuingly confident in our quality. EQUIS is an international quality stamp and a recognition for us that JIBS is a globally viable business school. The accreditation can also lead to new collaborations with strong international environments, and makes us more attractive to top students and researchers”, says Professor Jerker Moodysson, Dean and Managing Director at JIBS.
In March 2015, JIBS received the initial three-year accreditation, which has now been followed up with a review. In Sweden, the business schools in Stockholm and Gothenburg, and Lund University School of Economics and Management, together with JIBS, are the only four institutions that hold EQUIS accreditation.
"This is wonderfully positive and a confirmation of the high quality Jönköping International Business School holds in research and education. All employees, students and collaborators can be very proud of this award," says Agneta Marell, President of Jönköping University.
EFMD evaluates business schools based on criteria that reflect quality in education, research and organization. To receive the EQUIS accreditation three themes must permeate all activities at the business school; internationalization, cooperation with business, as well as ethics, responsibility and sustainability.

The European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) is a quality system for higher financial education. In order for a school or faculty to be accredited, it must meet certain criteria set by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) organization. EFMD has over 890 members in 88 countries, but only about 170 business schools are accredited with EQUIS.
