ProWOOD awarded prestigious prize
The industrial doctoral programme ProWOOD has been awarded Schweighofer Innovation Prize 2017. ProWOOD is a collaboration between Jönköping University, Linnaeus University and Träcetrum.

On June 20, ProWOOD received 50 000 euro and one of four Innovation Prizes from Schweighofer Prize. ProWOOD is rewarded for its innovative way of working and collaborating within the industrial doctoral programme.
- It’s a great honor for ProWOOD to receive this prize, I’m very excited, says Kristina Säfsten, programme director of ProWOOD. Now we will have even greater opportunities to create joint activities that will contribute to a positive development onwards.
The Schweighofer Prize is donated by the Austrian Schweighofer family, who has been engaged in the European woodworking industry for generations. The Schweighofer Prize awards innovative ideas, technologies, products and services in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the European Forest Based Sector. The Prize has two parts: the Main Prize and Innovation Prizes.
ProWOOD
ProWOOD is a project by Jönköping University, Linnaeus University and Träcentrum. Within ProWOOD, the wood industry and the universities work closely together to facilitate innovation and to boost the competitiveness of the wood industry.
The ProWOOD work is based on the challenges and needs of the wood industry and combines knowledge in industrial product development with knowledge of wood material. All doctoral projects are based on the real needs of the different companies.
The first group of doctoral students started 2014 (ProWOOD) and the second group will start autumn 2017 (ProWOOD+).
ProWOOD is a part of Jönköping University’s new research and education environment within knowledge intensive product realization, SPARK.
