Research has shown that participating in home, school and community activities has a positive influence on a person’s health and wellbeing. For an adolescent with an impairment or disability, how much does this affect their participation? In a new study, Frida Lygnegård from the CHILD research environment at the School of Health and Welfare at Jönköping University decided to let Swedish adolescents answer this for themselves.

In a new dissertation from Jönköping International Business School, Matthias Waldkirch shows how mismatched relationships can have major consequences for family firms.“The owners often look primarily for formal qualifications when recruiting, but this often says little about how the new CEO performs within the family firm,” says Matthias Waldkirch.

On October 19th the Institut Suedois opens a large Ingmar Bergman exhibition as part of the project “Ingmar Bergman 100-years”. Graduates from the Product development with furniture design programme at Jönköping University’s School of Engineering have been invited to show their Ingmar Bergman-inspired furniture pieces in Paris.

International experts meet to discuss rural revitalisation
From October 17th - 19th, Jönköping International Business school will be hosting The Second Conference of the International Geographic Union Commission on Agricultural Geography and Land Engineering (IGU-AGLE).

JU students light up Alingsås
Sixteen students from the Lighting Design programme at the School of Engineering have taken part in one of the world’s largest lighting in public spaces workshops. The students worked alongside lighting designers from around the world to produce a five-week exhibition of light installations in the town of Alingsås in southwest Sweden.

Engineering inspiration day for study counsellors
On Friday 28 September, an inspiration day was organised for study counsellors from secondry and upper secondry schools. The day was arranged by a group of regional companies and the School of Engineering at Jönköping University. The group's ultimate aim is to attract students - in particular girls - to the engineering profession.

28 million SEK in research funding to School of Health and Welfare from Forte
Forte has given 28 million SEK to two different research projects at the School of Health and Welfare. 1.6 million SEK to Ida Karlsson, PhD at the Institute of Gerontology, and over 26 million SEK to Professor Sofia Kjellström's project at Jönköping Academy to develop co-production in health and social care.

For the fourth consecutive year, a Young Female Leader of the Year will be appointed, which will eventually lead to more women being found in leading positions. Jönköping University supports the project and our president, Agneta Marell, is in the jury.
