A day focusing on sustainability
Terms such as "sustainable business" and "Corporate Social Responsibility" are heard more and more often. But what do they really mean? How can companies work with sustainability without sacrificing profitability? JIBS invites you to Responsible in action day - a day that will put things straight.
Time and place: 19 February from 9.30 a.m. to 4.45 p.m. in HJ-aulan (He 102), School of Education and Communication, Jönköping University.
The world's business schools should educate leaders who have knowledge of sustainability and social responsibility. This is one of the basic ideas of PRME, a set of principles formulated by the UN, which JIBS signed last year. JIBS has the same mind-set in our strategy, where "Responsible in action" is a reminder that sustainability and responsibility should be included in as much as possible of the organisation. This February, JIBS organises the first "Responsible in action day" for students and other interested.
Before lunch Karl-Henrik Robèrt, professor in strategic sustainable development at BTH, one of Sweden's foremost cancer scientists and founder of the environmental organization The Natural Step, will hold a seminar. In the afternoon, representatives from IKEA, AD Company Sweden and Peepoople will tell about their thoughts on sustainability and responsibility. Speakers also include Shaw Scott from Impact Invest Scandinavia, named one of the world's 100 most important business leaders when it comes to influencing sustainability in business.
The day concludes with a debate on corporate responsibility. The entire event will be held in English.
