Jönköping University appoints recipients of honorary awards

The 2021 recipients of the Badge for Merit, the Per Risberg Scholarship and the Pedagogical Prize at Jönköping University have now been appointed. The Badge for Merit goes to Dag Raudberget and Magnus Andersson, the Per Risberg Scholarship goes to Nerrolyn Ramstrand, and the Pedagogical Prize goes to Adele Berndt.

The three awards will be handed over at the Academic Ceremony on 25 September 2021.

The Badge for Merit

The JU Badge for Merit is given to one or more people, whose achievements have been of great importance to the university. The committee for the appointment of recipients of JU's Badge for Merit has chosen to award the 2021 Badge for Merit to Dag Raudberget and Magnus Andersson, JTH, with the following motivation:

Dag Raudberget and Magnus Andersson are the initiators of the JU Solar Team, also known as the solar car project. The project has highlighted JU as a university in international and national contexts and is a fantastic forum for collaboration between students from JU's various companies. Students are given the opportunity to develop their skills in a unique environment. The project also contributes, through its focus on sustainability, to JU's strategic sustainability work.
Dag and Magnus have contributed to JU participating in the World Solar Challenge on four occasions (2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019). Twice, JU's car has been among the top ten in the world. A fantastic result and a result that stands well in the international competition.
The solar car project is also an excellent example where teachers at JU "educate with great commitment", in line with another of JU's strategies. The teachers' initiative and drive to keep the project together is well worth a badge for merit.

The Per Risberg Memorial Fund Scholarship

The Per Risberg Memorial Fund Scholarship is to be awarded to an employee at Jönköping University who has made an important contribution in respect of strengthening cooperation and internationalisation between JU and its interested parties (industry and/or public organisations).

The Committee for Per Risberg’s Memorial Fund has chosen to award the 2021 scholarship to Nerrolyn Ramstrand, professor at the School of Health and Welfare, with the following motivation:

Nerrolyn Ramstrand is one of the key people in the School of Health and Welfare’s work with partnerships concerning both business and public actors. It is in the area of ​​"Prosthetics and Orthotics" that Nerrolyn contributes with current research in projects with both Swedish and foreign companies.

Her research area has a major impact on society to improve the lives of people with prostheses, where she actively involves these people in the solutions. On the public side, there has been a long-standing collaboration with the Swedish police to optimize the convenience and function of their equipment.

She is also a profile for JU internationally as a participant and lecturer in projects with foreign universities and international organisations, including the WHO. As an advisor on internationalisation issues within JU, she contributes to the international development for JU as a whole and strengthens the JU brand in the academic world.

Nerrolyn is a strong ambassador for Jönköping University and a role model in her commitment to the surrounding society.

Pedagogical Prize

The Jönköping University Pedagogical Prize aims to promote, recognize, and reward pedagogic efforts or pedagogic leadership. The recipient of the Pedagogical Prize must have successfully achieved one of the following:

  • Increased understanding of a topic by putting it in a relevant context
  • Developed or further developed subject didactic methods or teaching aids
  • Implemented new ideas for teaching and learning
  • Motivated and committed to new initiatives to develop teaching

The Board of Education and Research Education (NUF) has nominated and the President has decided to award the Pedagogical Prize for 2020 to Adele Berndt, Associate Professor Business Administration at JIBS, with the following motivation:

Adele Berndt has increased her understanding of the subject of marketing by meritoriously integrating research and case methodology into teaching. With new ideas for teaching and learning, she has inspired her colleagues. Adele is especially noted for her great contribution in the transition to distance education in 2020 and for very positive reviews from students.
