Information about the fire in student accommodation at Råslätt

A crisis organisation has been activated at Jönköping University in response to the fire in a student apartment at Råslätt during the early hours of Thursday morning.

The alarm about the fire came to the fire department at 2.02am and at around 3.30am the fire was extinguished.

Ten students and a security guard were taken to Ryhov County Hospital for medical examination. Six of the casualties were lightly injured, three were moderately injured and one student is severely injured. The identity of the severly injured student has been confirmed and the family has been informed. 

Due to this, Jönköping University has started up a crisis organization.

Jönköping University has staff in place at Råslätt and the evacuated students are receiving temporary accommodation. Work on arranging new housing for the affected students is ongoing in collaboration with Vätterhem.

The International Relations Office has extended its opening hours during Thursday and Friday for all international students. At Student Healthcare there is a counsellor available and the University Chaplaincy, consisting of a deacon and a pastor, will be available during Thursday.
