Vice President appointed at Jönköping University

Lars Niklasson will be Vice President of Jönköping University as of 1 July 2013. The main task will be to assist the President with focus on external collaboration, research and innovation.

Lars Niklasson comes from the University of Skövde, where he for the past ten years has served as Vice President and Professor of Computer Science with a specialization in artificial intelligence. He has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Sheffield in the UK and has served in several Swedish committees and boards in the academic world. He has extensive experience working the connection between collaboration, research and innovation.

- This feels just right. Jönköping University is an inspiring academic environment that has a good collaboration with the community and a very strong support from the surrounding region. I also believe that the university is one of the winners in terms of future research funding. It will be exciting to be a part of the university's development, says Lars Niklasson.

The Vice President will be a part of the university's executive body and he will work in close cooperation with the schools' management functions. Lars Niklasson will among other things focus on external collaboration with a focus on research and innovation.
