Every year, Kvalitetsmagasinet presents the Quality Profile of the Year award to an individual who, in a particularly inspiring way, contributes to developing and strengthening quality work in Sweden. This year, the award goes to Moa Holm, a student on the Master’s programme in Quality Improvement and Leadership in Health and Welfare at the School of Health and Welfare at Jönköping University (JU).

Moa Holm is a dentist and works as a clinic manager at Aqua Dental in Östersund. Alongside her professional career, she is completing her Master’s degree at JU – a programme that has been of great significance to her development as a leader and to the work that is now receiving national recognition.

“It feels incredibly exciting, honourable and surprising to receive this award. I was up against some very talented finalists, which makes it feel even more special that the jury chose me. Above all, I see this award as confirmation that we are on the right track and that the work we do together daily is actually making a difference,” says Moa Holm.

She highlights the Master’s programme at JU as a central part of the development journey that led to the award.

“I have gained so much insight from the programme. It has given me both practical tools for implementing improvements and a deeper understanding of what is required for change work to be sustainable over time. The perspectives on systems thinking, culture, motivation and leadership in change have been crucial,” she says.

In its statement, the jury highlighted Moa Holm’s clear focus on creating real value for patients and on taking a long-term approach to quality through culture and collaboration.

“For me, the power to bring about change stems from the very reason we exist. Quality work is about how we come together, collaborate, and develop as a team to improve and achieve more,” says Moa Holm.

The Department of Quality Improvement and Leadership is immensely proud of this award.

“We are incredibly proud of our students and the journey of development they undertake during their studies. The students come from all over Sweden, and we see how their knowledge is put into practice and benefits the health and welfare system. The fact that our student Moa has now been named Quality Profile of the Year gives us every reason to celebrate – and to highlight our Master’s programme,” says Eva-Mari Blomqvist, programme coordinator at the School of Health and Welfare.
