There have been two dissertations at JTH in September and both Dinesh Sundaram and Rahel Kebede successfully defended their doctoral theses. See slideshows below.

"I was relieved afterwards and feel sense of gratitude to JTH and specifically the Department of Construction Engineering and Lighting Science, for the opportunity to conduct research in such an interesting field," says Rahel Kebede, who defended her doctoral thesis on 20 September.

Her doctoral theis is called "Ontology and Knowledge Graph-Based Product Data Representation for Sustainable Buildings – A Case of Data Integration and Digital Product Passport".

Building Information Modeling

Rahel Kebedes research focuses on ontology and knowledge graph-based product data representation, with an emphasis on the automated integration of product data into Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms and the development of Digital Product Passports (DPPs) to support a circular economy within the built environment.
The opponent of Rahel Kebede's disseration was Associate Professor Pieter Pauwels, Einhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands.

The phenomena that affect the heat and mass transport

Dinesh Sundarams defended his doctoral thesis, "Gas Evolution and Transport in Foundry Sands", on 12 September. In his thesis, the phenomena that affect the heat and mass transport due to gases generated from foundry mixtures is studied with the help of newly developed experimental techniques in combination with porous material characterization tools.
"This thesis is primarily aimed for the foundry industry in Sweden and we see a good opportunity to use the thesis to improve the production of cast products. Throughout the thesis we have also worked closely with industrial partners," says Dinesh Sundaram.

He thought it was excited to defend his research and felt happy and relieved when he was approved for his thesis.

The opponent to Dinesh Sundaram was Professor Michal Szucki from Freiberg University of Mining & Technology, Germany.
