A look at JTH's new premises in Science Park Towers
The School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU) has several premises in the new Science Park Towers in Jönköping.
“These are fantastic premises that provide new opportunities for us,” says Gunnar Gunnarsson, Operations Manager at JTH.
Science Park Towers was inaugurated on Friday 25 August and the following Monday, JTH's premises in the building were put to use by the schools students. Two av them, Emely Kara and Jesper Lundgren, who study Computer Engineering: Software Engineering and Mobile Platforms think it is positive that they, in the new premises, get better contact with Science Park and come closer to working life.
"A lot of production and great opportunities"
“We are entering an environment with a lot of production and great opportunities to network with companies. And the premises are nice and modern,” says Emely Kara.
The students' teacher Ulf Johansson, Professor Computer Science, thinks it is excellent that the distance between JU and Science Park decreases even more scince Science Park is an important part of the ecosystem around JU's AI investment. However, he thought at the start of the semester that the coffee was too expensive for the students to become a natural part of Science Park Towers and shortly afterwards Science Park lowered the price of coffee for students.
"Strengthen their entrepreneurship"
Gunnar Gunnarsson sees the connection to business life in Science Park Towers as an opportunity for JTH's students to strengthen their entrepreneurship and their contact with working life.
“In addition, Science Park, and everything that goes on there, becomes more visible to our students and our staff because we have daily activities in the building,” he says.
JTH's premises are adjacent to the main entrance. On the first floor there is an entrance hall and a lecture hall and on the second floor there is a classroom, offices and a computer lab.
“We need to gradually expand our teaching capacity and decided early on to have premises in Science Park Towers. Collaboration is a core value for us and now we are getting even closer to both Science Park and the business world,” says Gunnar Gunnarsson.
