Thule Group and Scania are new strategic partners to the School of Engineering

Thule Group and Scania have joined as new strategic partners to the School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU).

“This means that we can continue to build knowledge, develop our employees and be at the forefront in relevant areas,” says Carl-Johan Magnusson, Senior Vice President Product Development at Thule Group.

Thule Group has a long and successful collaboration in education and research with JTH, especially through the research and educational environment SPARK. By joining as a strategic partner to JTH, these bonds are further strengthened.

“This is a way for us to get closer to both the research and the students at JTH. We will be able to cover areas where we lack competence today and receive a large exchange of knowledge with the other strategic partners to JTH”, says Carl-Johan Magnusson.

Close connections and early integration

He believes in close connections between the academia, research and companies as well as early integration with the students at JTH.

“Jönköping is our largest recruitment base and it is important for us that we get engineers from JTH.”

Scania has had a collaboration with SPARK since its start and on 1 June they also became a strategic partner to JTH. Ingegerd Annergren, Section Manager at Materials Technology at Scania, came to JTH to sign the agreement.

"Broadening our collaboration"

“We feel that it is time now to deepen and formalize our collaboration with JTH. We, like many other industries, have many challenges and we will need more technology and outside help to meet them. We are also broadening our collaboration within JTH and in the future it will not only include cast iron but also aluminum and other materials, says Ingegerd Annergren.

Salem Seifeddine, Associate Dean of Research at JTH and Program Manager for SPARK and Ingrid Wadskog, Managing Director and Dean at JTH, emphasize that Thule Group and Scania as strategic partners will bring broad engineering expertise to JTH.

Strengthen the industry and the academia

“Scania and Thule are leading companies and have an ongoing research and development in most of JTH's and SPARK's main areas,” says Ingrid Wadskog.

“JTH contributes to increased competitiveness for the manufacturing industry and we work to strengthen both the industry and the academia to together preserve and develop our core competencies,” says Salem Seifeddine.
