SEK 30 million to educate professionals in the metal industry
The Knowledge Foundation has granted SEK 30 million to the project CIRCUMET, which is led by the School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU) in collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology, University West, RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden) and a large number of companies and organizations. In CIRCUMET courses focused on professionals will be developed within circularity and sustainability in the manufacture of metal components.
230 students participated in online game about sustainability
On 22 February, 230 students at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) took part in the interactive 2030 SDGs Game as part of the course Responsible Enterprise. For three hours, the students, organized into 72 groups, participated in building a world according to the 17 global goals. This was the first time this kind of interactive teaching had been used at the university, and it was a success!
JU employee joins relief work in Turkey
Åke Solfeldt normally works as a Senior lecturer at the School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University, where he trains future engineers in building technology and construction. But right now, he is in Turkey inspecting damaged buildings after the major earthquakes that hit the country, where he is part of the EU’s expert team, EUCPT.
Many visitors at the HR students' networking day
For the seventh year in a row, HR Inspiration Day (HRID) was arranged last week on 9 February at the School of Education and Communication (HLK) at Jönköping University. This year's theme was "HR as a resource; A work in constant change”.
Nominated for "Årets Brobyggare" Bridge Builder of the Year
In December 2022, all employees at Jönköping University (JU) got the chance to nominate candidates for the "Årets Brobyggare" award (Bridge Builder of the Year), which will be awarded at Jönköpingsgalan on 25 March. JU's management team has selected three finalists, and the winner will be presented at the gala. Jönköping University has also been nominated for another award.
Nominate JU’s Alumni of the Year
Nominations are now open for this year's "Alumni of the Year" Award at Jönköping University (JU). The prizes are awarded to former students who have made outstanding contributions in their professional roles or as private persons. The ceremony will take place on October 3.
JU students exhibit at Stockholm Furniture Fair
25 students studying Product Development with Furniture Design at the School of Engineering, Jönköping University, exhibit at the Stockholm Furniture Fair at Stockholmsmässan on 7-11 February. The students' furniture will then be used at the Trakt Forest Hotel designed by Gert Wingårdh in Holsbybrunn outside Vetlanda.
Scholarship to enhance the well-being of elderly with music
On 2 February, the Aktiestinsen Scholarship Fund 2022 was awarded to "Music to Remember", a project that aims to investigate whether the health and well-being of elderly people can be influenced by listening to music and discussing their musical experiences in groups. The recipient is Madeleine Svärd from Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan in Nässjö. Co-applicants are Eva Timén from Jönköping County and Ann Johansson from the School of Health and Welfare.

The selection process has been finalized and the list of finalists for Young Female Leader of the Year Award (Årets unga ledande kvinna) 2022 is now ready. 21 leading profiles from Jönköping County have been selected. Among these is a Jönköping University (JU) employee as well as several former students.
